PM orders priority hiring of extra staff in healthcare, police force during meeting on Thursday

A meeting chaired by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis was held at the Maximos Mansion on Thursday to discussed planned hiring in the public sector for the next six months.

It was attended by Finance Minister Christos Staikouras, Citizen Protection Minister Michalis Chrisochoidis, Health Minister Vassilis Kikilias, Interior Minister Panagiotis Theodorikakos and Deputy Finance Minister for Budgetary Policy Theodoros Skylakakis.

According to an announcement issued by the PM's office, Mitsotakis gave the ministers the following guidelines:

To press ahead with the hiring planned by the Supreme Council for Staff Selection (ASEP) within 2019, while giving priority to the 2450 positions related to the health ministry.

To immediately initiate, so they are completed by the end of the year, the procedures for hiring 1500 police officers to reinforce the DIAS police teams and to once again set up the Delta force, as the prime minister had pledged in the run up to the elections.
