Greek stocks ended slightly lower in the Athens Stock Exchange hit by a wave of selling on bank shares during the last hour of trading on Monday.

The general index of the market eased 0.32 pct to end at 864.17 points, off the day’s lows 0.32 pct. PPC (6.76 pct), Cenery (2.68 pct) and Hellenic Petroleum (2.58 pct) scored big gains among blue chip stocks, while Piraeus Bank (5.36 pct), Ellaktor (2.94 pct) and Alpha Bank (2.87 pct) ended lower.

Among market sectors, Utilities (2.24 pct) and Health (1.30 pct) ended higher while Banks (2.30 pct) and Raw Materials (1.08 pct) suffered heavy losses. Eurobank and Alpha Bank were the most heavily traded securities of the day. Broadly, advancers led decliners by 55 to 50 with another 32 issues unchanged. Pasal (20 pct) and Forthnet (17.95 pct) were top gainers, while Pairis (25.71 pct) and Progressive (17.46 pct) were top losers.
