Earthquake measuring 5.2 on Richter scale registered at Iraklio, Crete
An earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale was recorded early on Wednesday morning in Iraklio, the largest city of the island of Crete.
According to data by the Geodynamic Institute, the earthquake occurred at 07.40 Greek time. Its epicenter was 23 km west-northwest of Iraklio, and it had a depth of 66.1 km.
The Fire Brigade has not had reports of injuries or damage to buildings after the quake, which was originally reported as measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale. Chief of Crete's Fire Brigade Nikos Lagoudakis said that local authorities between Iraklio and Rethymno had had no reports of damage, but the service was on the alert for possible emergencies.
