Meeting between FM Dendias and Cyprus President Anastasiades underway

Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias on Friday met with Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades at the presidential mansion of Cyprus.

Dendias is paying a visit to Nicosia for talks with the Cypriot government on developments in the region and to coordinate the actions of Cyprus and Greece ahead of the forthcoming EU Foreign Affairs Council and European Council meetings, as well as on the Cyprus issue.

After his meeting with Anastasiades, Dendias will head to the Cyprus foreign ministry in Nicosia, where he will have a meeting with his Cypriot counterpart Nikos Christodoulides.

After the meeting between the two ministers, there will be also be a meeting between delegations of the two sides, and then joint statements by Christodoulides and Dendias.

While in Nicosia, Dendias is scheduled to participate in the online 27th OSCE Ministerial Council and later in the online discussion of the Mediterranean Dialogues (MED) initiative, which is being held under the auspices of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

With regard to the OSCE Ministerial Council, its work will focus on promoting dialogue on security, the fight against terrorism and extremism, the promotion of human rights and the fight against corruption and organised crime in the OSCE area.

Regarding the online discussion in the context of the annual event of the Mediterranean Dialogues initiative, the minister will participate in the panel on "Shared Prosperity and Migration" together with the foreign ministers of Italy, Slovenia, Croatia and Portugal.
