Plakiotakis: Greece protecting its borders with respect for human life
"Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis gave the proper answer. Greece is protecting its borders, which are also EU borders, effectively and with respect for international law and with priority for human life," Shipping and Island Policy Minister Yiannis Plakiotakis stated on Wednesday to the public broadcaster ERT when asked to comment on claims made by a Dutch journalist on Tuesday about pushbacks of migrants by Greece.
"We respect journalism but questions should be based on facts and not insult a country and its people," underlined Plakiotakis, adding that "Greece will continue to protect its borders as it should, whether someone likes this or not, and particularly against Turkey, which is behaving not like a state but like a pirate."
