The government is to blame for the number of dead from covid, Iliopoulos says
"Τhe fact that in the fourth and fifth wave of the pandemic, Greece is twice above the European average in the loss of human lives is a real achievement of the Mitsotakis government," SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance spokesman Nassos Iliopoulos said on Sunday in an interview with Real FM.
"There is a global pandemic, people have died all over the planet, but when so may people have died in Greece, someone must be to blame. And this is the Mitsotakis government, which never believed in the public health system and did not strengthen it. The private sector did not enter the battle when it ought to have done, our fellow citizens receive the care they need with delay and are intubated outside the ICU. And of course the government did not take the necessary steps in primary health care."
Referring to the issue of high prices in the market, he reiterated SYRIZA's position: "An immediate increase in the minimum wage to 800 euros is required, now and not in the spring. Employees can not pay their bills. Also, taxes on oil, gas and fuel must be reduced immediately. The third thing that needs to be done is not just to subsidize the electricity, but to intervene in PPC's pricing policy."
