Stormy weather to hit Greece on Friday, run to Tuesday
Adverse weather is forecast from Friday to Tuesday, with local rain, storms, hailstorms and a drop in temperatures by the National Observatory of Athens, who named the storm phenomenon "Minoas".
Based on the latest data on Meteo site, Minoas will start with rainy weather and storms at the Ionian Sea and western Greece area, with the phenomena spreading by midday to all of mainland Greece and Evia. On Friday night the storm is expected to reach Crete.
On Saturday and Sunday the bad weather conditions will affect all of Greece, especially the mainland, and including Attica and the city of Thessaloniki.
On Monday and Tuesday rain and storms in certain areas will be accompanied by hailstorms, especially midday and afternoon on the mainland.
Wind velocity at sea will not exceed 6 or 7 on the Beaufort scale, but in areas experiencing a storm there will be fierce gusts of wind.
Temperatures will continue to drop through Saturday, but will start rising at the end of the day.
