Georgiadis sees possible de-escalation of the pandemic after April 15
The market, throughout April, will continue to operate with the click away and click inside methods, Development and Investment Minister Adonis Georgiadis said on Wednesday in an interview with Skai TV.
"We are in the last 3-4 weeks of the pandemic. We knew from the beginning that the peak of the pandemic in Europe would be between March 15 and April 15. In April, the stores will operate as they do today."
However, he said that shopping centres may reopen as of next Monday, April 12. As for restaurants, cafes and bars, he estimated that they may open in mid-May.
Asked whether movements betweeen regions will be allowed at Easter, Georgiadis stated that "with the state of the pandemic as it is, we can not predict what will happen three weeks later. What is certain is that, if conditions permit, we have no reason not to allow it." He clarified, however, that restrictions will apply if travel is allowed.
He also expressed optimism about the course of the pandemic, stressing that "if the measures are observed, after April 15, and with the progress of vaccinations, it is possible that we will see a rapid de-escalation of the pandemic by the end of April."
