Kikilias: 'Whether deliberate or accidental, fires can do untold damage and put lives at risk'
Carelessness is not just inexcusable but criminal when it comes to handling fire, Climate Crisis and Civil Protection Minister Vasilis Kikilias commented in a post on X on Sunday, commenting on the wildfire burning on Crete.
"Whether deliberate or due to negligence, which unfortunately accounts for the majority of cases, such as that in Ierapetra, fires can do untold damage and put human lives at risk. I ask that everyone finally realises that we don't play with fire. The responsibility is huge and carelessness in not just inexcusable but criminal," the minister posted.
