Protest rally and march in central Athens by pensioners on Tuesday
Organisations representing pensioners are gathering at National Resistance Square (formerly Kotzia Square) in central Athens at 10:30 on Tuesday for a protest demonstration, followed by a march to the labour ministry.
Among a series of demands, they are seeking the restoration of the 13th and 14th pensions, the immediate payment of an Easter bonus to all pensioners, substantial pensions increases and a raising of the minimum pension to 80% of the minimum wage.
They also demand the immediate hiring of more staff, the creation of more ICUs and other improvements in the public health system, as well as more staff to process the issue of pensions.
