The government proved it does not sweep historical issues under the carpet, Education Min says

The government has shown once again that it does not sweep historical issues under the carpet, Education Minister Kostas Gavroglou said on Thursday in an interview with the Athens-Macedonian News Agency (ANA).

We have a lot of work ahead of us, law-making work, Gavroglou said. The church property needs to be recorded, he stated while stressing that it is a mutually beneficial agreement.

The minister expressed the hope the agreement will be concluded, adding that everyone agrees it is a very good deal.

Gavroglou noted that it is the first time there is a common fund for the exploitation of the church property where the revenue is shared with the state. The great feat is to be able to stand against historical inertia, the minister underlined.
