Shipping Mnister Plakiotakis announces more ferry connections to remote islands

New ferry destinations have been approved by the Coastal Transport Council, including a newly introduced connection between Thessaloniki's port and Northeast Aegean islands, and connections between Crete and the Dodecanese, Shipping Minister Giannis Plakiotakis announced on Friday.

The new routes will launch among the following destinations:

- Alexandroupolis, Samothrace, Limnos

- Kos, Nisiros, Tilos, Halki, Simi, Rhodes

- Rhodes, Kastellorizo

- Sitia (Crete), Kassos, Karpathos, Rhodes

- Patmos, Ikaria, Fournoi

Plakiotakis noted how more ferry connections to remote regions will follow and underlined that the annual budget for servicing remote regions has increased to 130 million euros from the current 90 million, including the new shipping fuel costs in 2020.
