Government spokesperson Yiannis Economou, briefing the press on Monday, said that the government remains totally focused on the two-fold commitment it made after the tragic train accident in Tempi for justice and to do everything possible to prevent such a thing from happening again in the country".

Economou noted that the top priority is the support of the families of the victims and the injured and he explained that the government has launched a series of financial and other support measures, while their psychological support continues.

"We are also working for the gradual restart of the railways with total safety and we are developing any necessary initiative in order for the tele-management system to be fully installed and operate as soon as possible", he said.

He also referred to the new increase of the minimum wage to 780 euros from April 1 by 9.4 percent, 20 pct higher in comparison with the minimum monthly wage of 650 euros in 2019.
